In evaluating the way in which ball possessions are gained during the course of a game, we find that 60 to 80 percent of the possessions are gained by rebounding and after an opponent's score. Twenty percent come from opponent's error, and only 5 percent of the possessions come from steals and interceptions. A study of the way ball possessions are gained makes it seem highly impractical to base pressure defense on interceptions and steals.

Half Crossover (Inside Out) Move

The Half Crossover or Inside Out is a devastating move that’s been used by
fluid offensive playmakers from Michael Jordan to Kobe Bryant.

Here are the steps to perform this move right handed. After you master this pattern,
master it left handed as well.

While dribbling the ball right handed:

  1. Take big hard step with left foot, making the defender jump.
  2. Take the ball and go inside out halfway across your body. This makes the defender jump even more.
  3. Blast by your defender body to body. Do not step too wide of the defender. Tight spacing is key because this denies the defender any maneuvering space to cut you off.
  4. Remember to stay low as you blast by.

Ball Handling Stationery

Regardless of the position you play, ball handling is the fundamental skill you have to master. This is a stationery ball handling drill, executed by players of very young age, but don’t take that too lightly: do it, and if your execution is flawless, do it faster…

This drill, or something similar to this, should be integrated into every practice. Since this drill can be done in the driveway, I would recommend doing it every day.
